8-day Comprehensive Course

Our signature training for mountain guides, rescue personnel, and outdoor professionals who require a knowledge of improvised and terrain adapted rescue systems. This curriculum focuses on the performance of small teams; and minimal equipment, to overcome technical challenges in austere environments. 


Course Overview

5 Days of comprehensive rope rescue training (ASTM Level 2 rope standard) followed by 3 days of discipline specific modules and scenario's that achieves the ASTM level 3 standard for technical rope rescue. 

Core Concepts:

  • Mountain rescue rope-craft/knots

  • Mirrored lowering/raising systems

  • Single rope techniques/Double rope techniques

  • Patient packaging

  • Anchor construction

  • Terrain adapted rescue concepts: Glacier, Alpine, Rock

  • Efficient pick-off techniques

Recognized Standards:

  • United States- NFPA 1670: Standard for operations and training for technical rescue incidents. 

  • International- ASTM F2955-12: Training for level III rope rescue (R3).

  • International Technical Rescue Association (ITRA) Certification.
